Spain takes the fifth place in a world rating of the directions in a segment of meetings, exhibitions, negotiations, conference and other actions (Meetings, Incentivos, Convenciones y Eventos MICE), according to the data collected by Euromonitor International.
By drawing up of a rating the number of the international tourists and a condition of the local markets of MICE services – infrastructure, a hardware, possibility to organize large actions was analyzed, etc.
The first place in a rating of MICE tourism occupies China which in 2011 received the greatest number of the international tourists MICE segment (7,9 million).
As to Spain, the number of tourists in MICE segment from 2009 to 2011 remains stable, in a range about 3 million international tourists.
According to the International Association of the congresses and conferences (ICCA) in Spain in 2011 took place 463 international conferences and conventions in comparison with 451 events in 2010.
Thus, in an annual rating of ICCA, Spain takes the third position. But here the list of the cities in which pass the international kongressny events answering to certain criteria is published. Action should be rotiruyemy – passing on a regular basis and at least in three different countries, and also to bring together not less than 50 delegates.
As to prospects for the next years, the main markets which show absolute growth international tourism business in 2011-2016, are, in the following order: China (from 7,1 million new trips); USA (3,6 million) and Turkey (2 million).
"Turkey endures something like boom thanks to strong economic base and political stability. This country, at an intersection between Europe and the Arab world, involves business and investments from all over the world", – tells Euromonitor.
As to Spain, the country on the contrary loses potential for tourism business.
