Barcelona rose by 14 positions and became the ninth city in the world with the best reputation. Such data were received during the research City RepTrak 2014 in which the Institute of Reputation (Brand Institute) analyzes online reputation of hundreds cities from countries G-8. Madrid in this rating fell by five positions and holds the 32nd place.
Except factors of trust, respect and admiration, the research City RepTrak measures reputation of the cities, using in an assessment thirteen various attributes, grouped in three categories: level of development, quality of life and quality of the institutional environment. But, in a case with Barcelona, factors of influence of an internal political situation in Catalonia were not accepted to consideration.
"Results show that Barcelona managed to enter very quickly into the first league of the cities of the world", – the director of ESADE Brand Institute, Ana Varela (Ana Varela) told. Being one of the main centers of kongressny tourism in various areas of economy, having a high standard of living, popularity among students (thanks to Erasmus grants) – all these factors do Barcelona very popular in social networks. It is important to note that in networks, practically, there are no negative mentions of the Catalan capital, and growth of presence is continuous in time with the peaks of popularity connected with important cultural events, conferences or the congresses.
According to global tracking of the Barcelona brand in the social networks, developed in Barcelona Global y Accenture, Barcelona associates together with tourism, sports and culture, and also with actions, conferences and education.
