Soon in Barcelona the zone of free Wi-Fi will essentially extend. The city administration plans to establish to 12.000 new points of access in zones of public catering, at metro stations, in buses, parks, the markets and in the territory of port and cruising terminals.
The mayor of Barcelona Javier Trias (Xavier Trias), declared that Barcelona becomes the city with the biggest in the world a free wireless network of Internet access. Besides, he noted that this initiative will offer competitive advantages to business and will benefit locals and tourists.
At present the city council of Barcelona together with Commercial and industrial chamber and Guild of restaurateurs started new system of wireless and free Internet access – ‘GuaFi’ which will be gradually established in the majority city restaurants.
Users of system can receive Internet access without necessity of providing any personal data. Having registered in one institution, the user will be automatically connected to a network at an entrance in other restaurant working on this scheme.
In system there will be no advertizing and there will be no restrictions on access time. To 250 users can be connected at the same time to a network in one institution.
The president of Guild of restaurateurs of Barcelona Pere Shias (Pere Chias) considers that "now Wi-Fi as is important, as the conditioner and heating at restaurant"
Besides, the network of free Internet access is planned to expand by city buses and subway platforms.
by 2016 free Wi-Fi will be available on 1130 vehicles and at 16 metro stations.
