Tomorrow the State Duma of the Russian Federation will consider the problem on ratification of the Russian-Spanish contract which regulates the main questions of adoption of children from Russia. This contract was signed in July of last year.
In case of successful ratification, Spain becomes the third country from which there are similar contracts, after Italy and France.
According to official statistics, in Spain lives 12,3 thousand Russian children adopted during the period from 1997 to 2013. However adoption of the Russian orphans to Spain was sharply reduced for the last years. In 2008 – 905 children, in 2013 – 303
In 2013 the Russian government entered "Dima Yakovlev’s" law. According to which, with the country in which unisex marriages are legalized, the separate document in the field of adoption should be signed. Till this time Spaniards very actively adopted children from Russia, conceding in it only to Americans.
Russia intends to sign similar contracts with Israel, Ireland, Slovenia, New Zealand, Cyprus and Malta.
