The number of internal air transportation across Spain was reduced in September by 14,5 %, at the same time, the number of the passengers who have used services of the railways, increased by 16,5 %.
According to the data published by National institute of statistics of Spain (NIE), the total of passengers of public transport in September decreased by 0,5 % in annual expression and made 361,1 million people.
Long-distance transportations in Spain were reduced by 3,2 %, to 103,1 million passengers, then, as growth of transportations in the cities increased by 0,3 % in the cities to 218 million passengers.
Long-distance air transport showed the biggest rates of falling in 14,6 % while, bus transport decreased for 2,8 % and the railways lost 3,2 % of passengers.
On distant bus routes there was a passenger traffic falling for 8,7 %. The increasing number of Spaniards reflects on travel by the high-speed trains AVE. So, in September, services of these high-speed trains used for 16,5 % of passengers more than year before.
In the cities the number of passengers in the subway decreased. Indicators of the Madrid subway decreased for 5,5 %, in the Palm tree for 1,4 % and Valencia for 1,3 %. Use of the city bus fell in Bilbao for 5 % and the Palm for 1,1 %.
In all regions and the provinces of Spain the number of passengers in buses, except for Castile la Manchi with falling in 10,7 %, Castile and Leon (-6 %) and the Basque Country with small reduction in 0,4 % increased.
Murcia, from 10,6 %, the Canary Islands from 4 %, and Madrid, from 3,9 % registered the greatest growth of a passenger traffic.
